Technical Projects

Alert System for Dislodgment of Neonatal PIV catheters

  • Prototyped a low-cost detection system for IV infiltration in neonates

Manatee Tracking Device

  • Developed a manatee tracking device, and reduced costs by a factor of 50 and improve data acquisition for the Pittsburgh Zoo and affiliated marine biologists.

​

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Demonstration Device

  • Prototyped a portable, small-scale TMS device to stimulate the median nerve of the human hand for Dr. Helmut Karim.

​

Prototyping a Fourier Ptychography Imaging System

  • Designed and prototyped a low-cost imaging system for the Ocular Biomechanics laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh.

​

Endovascular Torque Device

  • Designed and prototyped an improved device for torque application for physicians in the department of Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

Music Maestro, An Ergonomic Instrumental Composition Interface

  • Designed a low-cost interface for intuitive real-time MIDI composition on fret-less stringed instruments.

  • Mentored two MSPs in the program and provided guidance and feedback on running workshops and developing a campus tech community.​
